Hayden Panettiere has a new book on the way.

The actress, 34, is set to give readers “an unprecedented glimpse into her storied life and acclaimed career” in a forthcoming memoir tentatively titled Scream and Break Free: Addiction, Trauma, and How the Cheerleader Saved Herself, PEOPLE can confirm.

The upcoming release will see Panettiere open up about her decades-long career, alcoholism and addiction, and more. “It’s both daunting and exciting to be able to share my story in book form,” Panettiere tells PEOPLE of the book, which is currently scheduled to be released by Grand Central Publishing in early 2026.

“You may laugh a little, cry a little, but most importantly, you’ll hopefully finish it feeling inspired. I’ve grown so much from my experiences,” she continues. “I hope that this opportunity to further elaborate on that journey may provide a little comfort for those who have faced similar challenges. I’m truly grateful for every lesson, and for the woman I have become today.”

The Heroes star’s upcoming book promises “to delve deep into the heart of her experiences as an actress, mother and human, ultimately inviting readers to share in the laughter, tears and poignant moments that shaped her into the woman she is today,” according to the book’s description. “With her signature blend of charm and authenticity, Panettiere invites fans and admirers alike to join her on this extraordinary voyage of self-discovery and revelation,” it adds.

Over the years, Panettiere has been open about her journey since skyrocketing to fame as a child actor in shows including One Life to Live, in which she starred as Sarah Roberts from 1994-1997.

While speaking exclusively to PEOPLE in 2022, Panettiere discussed her addiction to opioids and alcohol for the first time.

“I was on top of the world and I ruined it,” the Nashville star said at the time. She spent years dealing with her addiction, as well as a devastating bout with postpartum depression after welcoming her daughter, Kaya, with ex, Wladimir Klitschko, in December 2014.

“I’d think I hit rock bottom, but then there’s that trap door that opens,” Panettiere previously told PEOPLE.

“This hasn’t been easy and there were a lot of ups and downs,” she said, of her journey. “But I don’t regret even the ugliest things that have happened to me. I feel incredibly accomplished. And I feel like I have a second chance.”

Lionsgate has acquired world rights to under-the-radar thriller Amber Alert, which will star Golden Globe nominee Hayden Panettiere (Scream VI). Golden Globe winner Tyler James Williams (Abbott Elementary) co-stars.

In Amber Alert, which is in post-production, an ordinary ride share becomes a high-stakes game of cat and mouse. The story will follow Jaq (Hayden Panettiere) who is eager to get to her first day at a new job, and her driver, Shane (Tyler James Williams), who is just trying to earn a little extra at his side hustle. An alert of a child abduction on their phones will change all that when they discover they are behind a car that matches the description of the kidnapper’s. Unable to let a possible child trafficker escape, they begin a pursuit that will put their own lives at risk.

Kerry Bellessa directs the film which is written by Kerry Bellessa and Joshua Oram. Producers are Joseph Restaino and Tony Stopperan through their Hungry Bull Productions banner, Summer and Kerry Bellessa through Bluefields Entertainment, and Leal Naim.

The film is co-financed by Hungry Bull Productions and Three Point Capital. Panettiere and Williams will also executive-produce the film. Lionsgate will release domestically.

Hungry Bull Productions, based in Florida, is best known for Michael Sarnoski’s directorial debut Pig, starring Nicolas Cage and Alex Wolff, which was picked up by Neon. Credits also include Passing (Netflix), directed by Rebecca Hall and starring Tessa Thompson, Ruth Negga, Alexander Skarsgard, and André Holland, and Lionsgate movies The Lady of the Manor, with Melanie Lynskey, Judy Greer, Justin Long, and Ryan Phillippe, and thriller Fear of Rain, starring Katherine Heigl, Harry Connick.

Amber Alert marks Panettiere’s second screen project — after Scream VI — since her Golden Globe-nominated turn as singer Juliette Barnes in ABC’s hit series Nashville, produced by Lionsgate Television. The actress is also known for series and films including Heroes, Custody and Remember The Titans.

Williams is best known for his roles in Abbott Elementary, The United States vs. Billie Holiday and Dear White People.

Panettiere is repped by Mainstay Entertainment, Independent Artists Group, and Hansen, Jacobson. Williams is represented by The Gersh Agency and Hansen, Jacobson.

Hello, Happy New Year Hayden fans! Hayden Panettiere is the face of the December issue of Reserved Magazine. In this new interview, they delve into her return to the center stage of her career and her comeback. Talking about the SAG strike and how it affected her projects, she also opens up about her will to become a producer and direct, her fashion style, her activism.

If an adolescence on Hollywood’s doorstep taught Hayden Panettiere one thing, it would be a remarkable, almost unfathomable resilience. The actor, activist, mother, and 2000s-era icon tackles her new start with the grace and tenacity of a self-made woman. Can you talk a bit about your experience during the SAG strike? How are you feeling now that it’s over? Are you proud of the progress?

Hayden Panettiere: We’re all excited that it’s over, but it needed to happen. It was incredibly unfair what was going on; what we were seeing as actors and actresses on the backends, the deals, and who is really reaping those benefits. It was time for somebody, for us all, for Fran Drescher— who is helming this— to stand up. She made that speech and— oh my gosh— every actor out there and everyone involved in SAG was just going “THANK YOU!” This was a no-B.S. strike.

I hope it ends up being a good thing that the writers’ strike ended before ours, so they could get back to work. By the time that ours ended, we have scripts and stories that we can go back to work and do. This is the time in between, where some projects have fallen apart and need to be put back together again- which is no surprise— but there are different opportunities that are also coming up. We had several opportunities and projects that we are really excited about doing and putting together. I’m hoping to become a producer and start producing more and more. Eventually, one day, I hope that I get to be behind the camera and directing, not always having to be in the front of it. We have some really exciting stuff. It definitely pushed things back a bit, but it was a necessary evil.

Now that the strike has ended, what’s next for you?

Hayden Panettiere: There’s a very cool independent film I did right before the strike started. Literally, we ended it right as the strike started. We were terrified the entire time that they were going to call the strike and we were going to have to stop where we were. But, we got through it. I really like the story behind it, and it’s also kind of like a PSA. That’s about as much as I can say about it right now. We’ll see how it comes together. I’m hoping it comes to fruition and everyone gets to see it.

IRK: We’re so excited to catch up with you and share these gorgeous images with the world and your fans! Your new pink hair! We are obsessed! Why did you dye it, and what does it mean to you?
Hayden: Thank you! I’ve had pink hair before, and I loved it! I’ve been begging my team to let me dye it for a while now, and given what I had on my slate with work and photo shoots, I wasn’t able to… Then the strike hit, so I thought… why not!? I’m not filming anything right now, and it’s an opportunity to do what I want with it and be creative differently.

IRK: How has your style evolved over the years?
Hayden: I’ve always loved color—especially bright colors, so that hasn’t changed. When I was growing up, I was constantly told how I should dress and what I should look like. My “style” was practically decided for me. Then, as I got older and surrounded myself with different people–more positive people– I began to be encouraged to embrace who I am and the type of image I want to project. In doing that, I’ve grown to love fashion so much more because it’s become a creative and freeing form of expression—not something that confines me.

IRK: Can you tell us about your journey into the world of acting? What inspired you to pursue a career in the entertainment industry?
Hayden: Honestly, I didn’t have much choice in the matter. I started acting at 11 months old, and I’ve never stopped… It began with modeling and commercials, then I was on two soap operas (One Life To Live and Guiding Light), and then I started booking bigger roles in films and television series.

IRK: You’ve worked in both television and film. What are the key differences in your approach when working on these two mediums?
Hayden: It depends on the role, but typically, when doing a film, you do not have to put as much time into it. You have long set days for both, but a film is usually over within a few months. If you’re on a series, you’re looking at most of your year (depending on the project) with a small 2-3 month hiatus. You’re also playing the same character for longer when you’re on a series, whereas with a film, you’re only in that role for a stint, and then it’s on to the next one. The exact amount of prep goes into both, but when you’re on a series, you get into a groove with the role, making it easier. You sort of slip into the character with less effort because the character is still part of you.

It looks like Scream VI is aiming to score big. The US previews on Thursdays grossed over $5.7M, higher than what the previous installment scored last year. It’s expected to get the biggest opening of the franchise with around $40M over the weekend (a possible $50M gross is possible).

Critically speaking, this new sequel seems to be garnering positive reviews with many praising Hayden Panettiere’s comeback as Kirby Reed and the overall darkness and bloodiness of the sequel. It averaged a 62/100 on Metacritic (from 44 reviews) and a 79% approval from RottenTomatoes (with 179 reviews).

Scream VI is already drawing blood at the box office, where it earned $5.7 million in Thursday previews from 3,125 theaters a separate special fan event.

That compares to $3.5 million in previews for last year’s Scream, and the $5.5 million in previews for last weekend’s Creed III.

Scream VI expands into a total of 3,675 cinemas today and should post a series-best domestic debut of at least $35 million over Oscar weekend for Paramount and Spyglass.

The last Scream film, released in January 2022, opened to $30 million domestically in an impressive showing for the pandemic era. The biggest North American start of the franchise belongs to 2000’s Scream 3 ($34.7 million), not adjusted for inflation.

Scream VI, which cost a reported $35 million to make before marketing, follows survivors of last year’s installment as they leave Woodsboro for New York City. Unfortunately, the menacing killer Ghostface isn’t far behind. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who run Radio Silence Productions with Chad Villella, returned to direct.
